Busy February

The running theme seems to be busy, just not stop going.  But, I wouldn't trade it for the world.  Being busy means that we are loved, we have wonderful friends and family to spend time with and to share in making memories, and for that I couldn't be more thankful.  February was busy, but it was a wonderful month.  Chloe got very into Valentines this year.  She loved telling any and everybody "Happy Valentines Day."  She still didn't really grasp the whole idea of giving out Valentines and receiving them, but I'm sure next year will be very different.  She did pick out princess valentines to give out this year, big surprise on the princess part, and she told us who all she wanted to give them to.  My favorite is that she wanted to send one to her cousin Curt.  I was so excited that she remembered him and wanted to send him one.  However, when I asked if we could send one to her cousin Rosalie as well, she wasn't okay with that idea.  Chloe's response was, "No, Rosalie is a baby like Mallory, and babies don't need Valentines."  Gotta love the reasoning of a two and a half year old.

Our Valentines was pretty quiet, stayed at home and had a family movie night.  Then Nolen and I enjoyed a beautiful candlelit dinner together after the girls went to bed.  It was a perfect day.

Chloe has also been going to Soccer Tots all month, and she loved it.  That is her and Nolen's special outing each weekend.  And following soccer, they would go grab lunch together.  Well, I think Nolen created a "monster", because now Chloe is always asking if it is time for soccer so she and dad can go eat and get ice cream.  I am also told that "mom and Mallory cannot come" that it is for Chloe and daddy only.  It is amazing to watch how much that little girl loves her daddy.  Her entire face lights up each evening when she hears his truck pull into the driveway and she goes running to greet him, or sometimes she likes to try and "hide" from him.

Mallory is continuing to grow like a weed.  She has started rolling from her back to her tummy all the time.  She hasn't mastered the rolling back and forth yet, back to tummy to back, but that's just fine with us.  I think she is determined to crawl already.  She will roll onto her tummy then do everything she can to move around.  She can move backwards pretty well already, but hasn't figured out the moving forward yet, thank goodness.  She can slow down on the whole growing up thing!

Two weekends ago we were blessed that Katie and Travis came from Houston for a visit.  We had a wonderful weekend with them and stayed busy the whole time.  On Friday, Jacob was nice enough to take us out on the boat.  It couldn't have been a more beautiful day for us all to go out on the water.  Mallory loved her first boat ride!

That afternoon, I took Katie and Travis to the Abita Brewery for a "tour."

Then on Saturday we headed out to Global Wildlife Center.  There at Global Wildlife, you get taken around and given the opportunity to feed all the animals.  They have over 4,500 animals there, including cows, kangaroos, gariffes, deers, etc.  It was really fun and so amazing watching Chloe's reaction, especially when a llama ate out of her hand.

Then that evening we went to downtown Covington for a Mardi Gras parade!  Chloe loves going to parades, and this was her first chance to sit in a ladder during a parade.  But then she learned about the love of going up and down the ladder, and spent a good part of the parade doing that.  Thankfully, she has an "unk" that would help her go up and down as many times as she wanted.

Mallory also caught her first Mardi Gras beads that night!  She hooked one on her foot!

Chloe loves to dress up more than anything right now.

I guess that is about all for now.  We are heading back to Texas for a visit this upcoming weekend and we cannot wait to see everyone.  Now hopefully the warmer weather will come back and stay.  Even us down here in southern Louisiana are not use to all this cold!
